Some common challenges people may face to accessing contraceptives today could include, but are not limited to, – not knowing where to go to access contraception
– being to shy to ask for or purchase
– no family doctor to discuss possible options & side effects with
– having no one to discuss what options may be best for individuals
– lack of income to pay for contraception
I wish the information and possible side effects of different contraception choices was more available to me as a young person becoming sexually active. It is very difficult for a young person to make long term decisions that may affect their future choices. For example, I wish it was explained in more detail that the depo shot wasn’t as accurate as I expected, but also, could hinder pregnancy later in life when I felt ready to have children.
