The Sunrise ceremony in the Apache tribe is a way to celebrate the transition from childhood to adulthood for young woman. It is a way of gathering the whole community together to celebrate and support during the transition.

Puberty in Hinduism

Although somewhat archaic, some Hindu communities still celebrate a girl’s first period with a celebration to announce her fertility and coming of age. Many young girls were deemed ready for marriage and wifely duties at this time (which I find rather horrifying). Depending on the community, determined what ritual events took place, from isolation to large lavish parties.
