Q: I am not very experienced, is this club for me?
A: All Experiences levels are welcome!
Q: I don’t want to participate in a guided project, do I have to?
A: No! There is a guided project for those looking to participate, but there are also a tonne of supplies you can dive into and work on your own project! From sketching to painting, yarn art to plaster art, we have all kinds of goodies you can check out!
Q: I am a parent and I would like to see the space and meet the team, is that ok?
A: Absolutely! Drop us a line! firstname.lastname@example.org (artist) QSACoordinator@aspecc.ca (Queer Straight Alliance) or email@example.com (President). You can come for a tour, and we have a quiet room you can enjoy a coffee in while your youth enjoys art!
Q: I want to bring my (favorite art supply here), is that ok?
A: You bet!
Q: Why is this for queer artists, and not for anyone else?
A: It is for allies too (people who do what they can to support the safety and acceptance of queer folk are called allies). We restrict this group to LGBTQIA2S+ folk and their allies to ensure that this space is one that is free of oppression, judgement, homophobia and transphobia . This is part of being a safe space for people who are otherwise marginalized due to their gender expression or sexuality. You can read more about it here.
Q: I can’t get there for the start time, but I still want to attend. Can I come late?
A: Absolutely! This is a drop in, so you don’t have to be here for the start, or stay to the end! Come for a half hour if that is what works for you!
Q: I am not quite 12, can I attend?
A: Nope! 12 is the very minimum age for this club! We are working on developing a club for the younger crowd.
